I'm a Mac

.. last evening we dared to join others who live at Pruneridge Place for a make your own Sundae event put on by the Social Club .. (insert fits of laughter)

.. it was hot outside and they were hosting the event in "our" pool

.. while enjoying a root beer float a neighbor approached Puck and introduced himself as David.

.. they chatted and upon revealing that we live only 3.4 miles from Puck's office David asked

" Oh you work for (company that was not apple)"

"No I work for Apple"

"Oh, I work for Microsoft"

Puck's quick and witty response, "I'm a Mac"

David did not follow up with his obvious line .. perhaps cause he was laughing the kind of laugh that could  make root beer come out your nose.

Yes, this is how we make friends here in Pruneridge Place

another post ... cause it was a busy weekend

Action packed beaching ...

Here's what it takes to get a little alone  time (or small number of people) on a beach here in California ...

I think we all agreed it was worth it (even if we were wiped afterwards and forgot to note that even if it is 12 degrees cooler at the beach .. one should still apply a liberal amount of sunscreen when spending hours at the beach).

For Craig

Crazy Driving

.. I am the first to admit that it takes a whole new set of rules to drive here in the Silicon Valley .. or Bay Area or whatever you choose to call this particular region of California. Not that I have driven in other areas of California ... I simply did not want to lump all of California driving in to the craziness we see.

.. The other night we were in bumper to bumper traffic we deduced due to an accident as Emergency vehicles attempted to weave their way through five lanes of bumper to bumper traffic. We were all pretty thankful we were not the ones needing medical assistance as no one was getting their in any form of rapidness.

.. We figured we were stuck for a while and settled in .. kind a like if you find yourself on the  Malahat (for you Islanders) after an accident ..

.. We were shocked by how some folks were handling the traffic .. never seen anything like it and finally got it together to capture some of it on film .. with awestruck narration ..

Hair Cuts and hair colors

Mitch and Puck headed out for a Father's day hair cut.

KJ and I went to get the kind of spray color that instantly changes the color of your hair ..

Some less then perfect photos of the hair (the camera battery always dies at the most inappropriate times)

Finding the forest

.. the boys and I were feeling a little nature deprived, okay it was just me, so I convinced, I mean we decided to head out and find a forest today.

.. earlier in the week a woman at a park outing had told me she "lived in the hills surrounded by forest. " And I was like and where the heck is that and how do I get there ...

.. she explained it to me like I had been living here and would know places .. I nodded like I might all the while remembering key phrases to later type in to google maps.

.. so it was with those snippets we put together a let's go see what we can find adventure.

.. we were pleased to locate a treed space with way more birds then people.

.. we liked the idea that we were standing in the hills we had long looked at while driving toward Daddy's work

.. it felt good to chill near a babbling brook ..

.. but the real fun unfolded when we decided to get in the water ..

.. then we got back in the car and drove longer, down a two lane road, very rare these days, until we found another nature like setting .. this one a man made lake good for snacking at

On a recent trip to the mall

.. KJ used his saved up quarters to buy himself a sticky hand out of the vending machines there.

.. However when he opened it up he found out it was a ............

fake moustache .. WTH

The photos were my attempt to replace disappointment with a little laughter .. which was partially successful!

Tons O Fun

The boys and I decided, courtesy of KJ's great idea to hit the surrounding areas to do a little geocaching ...

It of course led to many more adventures. First there was the viewing of super sweet ducklings.

And then after stealthy finding two caches in highly muggle infested areas (one actually involved the snatching of and running to the bathroom to view in hiding) we had some hungry bellies. We were on a mission to see how much food we could get for the seven dollars I had in my pocket. The plan, stop at first fast food restaurant and see if we could get everything we wanted for the cash we had.

We spotted Burger King and pulled in. Due to their Value Menu for a mere 5.40 we were able to get ...

1 Junior Whoper
4 Chicken Tenders
1 Small Fries
2 Soda Pops

It didn't take long for us to realize one small fries was not going to satiate this potato loving gang, so the last dollar went to a second order. After that the boys began a "no food left behind mission"

And the mission was successful (even to the point that I had to eat the raw onions off Mitchel's burger to ensure we did not leave any food behind.

We headed to a new to us park, to check it out and do a little more caching. We were successful in quickly finding the cache and then spent hours enjoying this new treasure. It backs right on to our favorite library so we grabbed some new stuff. Along the trail there was a workout station set up so the boys stopped to get in a little exercise.

Mitchel was inspired to do a little Karate Kid rendition.

And who knew the park would have such a great water feature (though I will admit that a few of the parents looked a little frightened by the boys full on water explorations)
