4th of July

Prior to this year, the 4th of July has always been my Dad's birthday (and he was always impressed by the hoopla the American's got up to to celebrate it).  This year we had the chance to celebrate Dad's birthday and check out this American Hoopla.

We did very little in means of preparation assuming the party would be easy to find .. Well it turns out there are indeed a lot of parties going but most of the invite only kind of things. Like in peoples front yards, backyards not so much in local parks or gathering spaces. In fact, we were most impressed by how quite the streets were during the day, seemed like a whole lot less people.

After driving around for awhile we decided to go out for fries. There are not any New York fries shops here in the US so we typed in to our good friend google "good fries Santa Clara," and ended up at a french restaurant near by.

We were offered 4 different types of water, the last being the only familiar one "tap" water so that is what we went with.

Figured a setting like this was good for a few family photos.

And we thought .. while in French restaurant .... eat escargot (with two sides of fries). Everyone did indeed like the fries and everyone did indeed try the escargot, though not everyone liked them !!

We played some patriotic X and 0's

Now it was time to head back home and prepare to feast Gramps style. It has been a few months since we have eaten red meat, so decided to do it up right. Found some organic, grass fed steaks (that cost more then my sassy new hat). At this point, we got all philosophical and discussed what the world would look like if we all had to pay the price for eating sustainable meat products (the rest of that is better saved for another post).

The aftermath ... yep too much steak to finish and good ole Round Up candy cigarettes to end the feast!

And then we found our way to some hoopla .. that did indeed impress.
